Giant Throwing Star

Yes, I built something else that is large and sharp. Except for this time, it has 4 giant blades, and is meant to be thrown at things. What could possibly be better?

Most throwing stars are 3-4 inches in diameter, while mine is a full 9 1/2. That would be why I call it a Giant Throwing Star. The bigger the better right?

It is cut out of an old circular sawblade, which one of my friends had thrown away. Saw blades like that are eminently suitable for this type of project, generally being made of fairly hard and shock resistant steel. I believe the heat treat on this one was ruined by being in a fire in my friends burn pile though, and because of that I have found the tips tend to bend a little bit. Nothing that a pair of pliers can't set right though.

Then I spray painted it red. Mainly because it the only color I had at the time.

For those who are interested in making one of these, here is a link to a full tutorial I made:

By the way, I am also wondering if it is possible to launch a few of these from a cannon. Please comment if you have any info.
